Director General of Police Inaugurates Commando Obstacles at Police Training School

Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 7: The Director General of Police, A&N Islands, Shri H.G.S. Dhaliwal, IPS, today inaugurated 10 newly constructed Commando Obstacles at the Police Training School, Prothrapur, marking a significant milestone in strengthening police training infrastructure in the Islands.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Smt. Sindhu Pillai A., IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Smt. Geeta Rani Verma, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Training), all DIGPs, Shri Uma Shankar, DANIPS, Principal (PTS), along with other senior officers of the Andaman & Nicobar Police. The presence of senior leadership reflected the Department’s strong commitment towards capacity building and professional excellence.

The newly developed, state-of-the-art commando obstacles are designed to enhance physical endurance, agility, tactical skills, and overall operational preparedness of police personnel. These facilities will benefit both newly appointed Police Constables as well as in-service personnel, providing realistic and scenario-based training essential to effectively deal with emerging law and order challenges, disaster response, and emergency situations across the Islands. This initiative represents another important step towards the modernization of police training infrastructure and reinforces the Andaman & Nicobar Police’s continued efforts to strengthen public safety and internal security in the Union Territory.
