
Campbell Bay, Aug. 9: The Directorate of Industries, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, launched a month-long training programme on “Tailoring and Garment Making” on Aug. 6 at Rajiv Nagar, Campbell Bay. The programme is designed to empower tribal women by equipping them with essential skills to pursue self-employment opportunities and promote socio-economic advancement within the community. A total of 25 tribal women have registered for the training.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Shri Barnabus Manju, Chief Tribal Captain, Great & Little Nicobar Islands, and Dr. Singh Keshav Narendra, Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay. Shri Shekhar Rai, Block Development Officer (CD Block, Campbell Bay), Shri S.Dinesh Kumar, Industries Promotion Officer and Shri Anujesh Rai, Tribal Welfare Officer, Campbell Bay were also present.
Addressing the participants, Shri Barnabus Manju, Chief Tribal Captain, expressed gratitude to the Department of Industries, A&N Administration and the local administration for organizing the training programme, noting its importance in uplifting the tribal community.
Dr. Singh Keshav Narendra, Assistant Commissioner, emphasized the critical role of skill development in fostering economic independence among tribal women. He encouraged the trainees to actively participate and make optimum use of this opportunity to build sustainable livelihoods.
Shri Shekhar Rai, Block Development Officer, highlighted the need for sustainable self-employment skills and urged participants to remain dedicated throughout the training. Shri Anujesh Rai, Tribal Welfare Officer, reiterated the significance of skill development as a means to achieve economic empowerment and stable employment for tribal women.
Shri S. Dinesh Kumar, Industries Promotion Officer, presented vote of thanks and encouraged all participants to maximize the benefits of the programme to ensure its effective implementation and success.
This initiative marks a significant step towards empowering tribal women in Campbell Bay, enabling them to acquire valuable vocational skills and contributing to inclusive and sustainable economic development in the region.
