Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 17: The District Administration has undertaken firm, systematic, and proactive measures to reclaim excess Revenue Land situated in the villages of Namunaghar, Mithakhari, and Ograbraj, which was found to be under the excess occupation of the Forest Department, beyond the legally notified and recorded forest boundaries.
In pursuance of the statutory responsibility of the District Administration to protect and manage Government land, an eviction drive was conducted by the Revenue machinery on 11.02.2026, and continuously over the next two days, after due verification of revenue records, demarcation, and identification of excess land. The operation was carried out in a peaceful, orderly, and lawful manner, with adequate deployment of field officials to ensure smooth execution.
During the course of the eviction drive, approximately 170 cemented pillars that had been erected on the excess Revenue Land were dismantled and removed. These structures were found to have been put up without lawful authority on land recorded as Revenue Land in Government Khata.
Consequent upon the eviction, the entire stretch of excess land under unauthorized occupation in Ograbraj, Namunaghar, and Mithakhari villages, measuring a total area of 23.8950 hectares under Ferrargunj Tehsil, has been successfully taken over by the District Administration. The said land has now been restored to Government Khata, and its possession formally resumed by the Revenue Department.
The District Administration has directed the concerned Revenue authorities to update all relevant land records accordingly and to ensure continuous monitoring so as to prevent any future encroachment or unauthorized use of the reclaimed land.
The District Administration reiterates its firm commitment to safeguarding Government land, maintaining accurate land records, and ensuring that all Government property is managed, protected, and utilized strictly in accordance with the provisions of law and in public interest.
