
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 16: In a decisive action to ensure public safety and compliance with the Explosives Act & Rules, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, ordered the sealing of unauthorized cracker godowns located at Teylerabad village.
Acting on credible information regarding illegal storage of firecrackers in the area, a joint inspection was conducted by the revenue officials and a team of Police personnel. During the inspection, it was found that the owners of two godowns were stocking large quantities of firecrackers far beyond the permitted limit prescribed under their respective licenses. Considering the potential risk posed to nearby residents and properties, the entire stock was seized and the premises were immediately sealed in the presence of officials.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the District Administration, South Andaman maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards violations related to the illegal storage and sale of firecrackers. In view of the upcoming festive season, strict vigilance will continue to ensure public safety and to prevent any such illegal activities.
All individuals and traders have been advised to strictly adhere to the safety norms and obtain proper authorization before dealing in fireworks or other explosive materials. The District Administration has further cautioned that stringent legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the provisions of the Explosives Act or endangering public safety.
