
Sri Vijaya Puram, April 29: A district-level meeting on the National Manuscript Survey under the “Gyan Bharatam Mission” was held today at 11:30 AM in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, South Andaman. The meeting was chaired by the Additional District Magistrate.
During the meeting, the Additional District Magistrate highlighted the Government of India’s commendable initiative aimed at preserving the nation’s rich cultural and intellectual heritage. Under the Gyan Bharatam Mission, concerted efforts are being undertaken across the country to identify and document handwritten texts, manuscripts, and centuries-old records. The initiative also seeks to leverage modern technology to digitize these invaluable resources, ensuring their long-term preservation and accessibility for future generations.
It was emphasized that the survey will play a crucial role in safeguarding the vast knowledge embedded in historical documents and manuscripts.
The Additional District Magistrate urged all stakeholders to actively participate in the initiative by collecting old documents and uploading them to the designated platforms as extensively as possible. She also stressed the importance of creating awareness among local communities and students about the value of manuscripts and the need for their preservation.
The meeting concluded with a call for coordinated efforts from all departments and institutions to ensure the successful implementation of the survey in the district.
