Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 15: Dr. Dinesh Sharma assumed the office as the 14th Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands today (Sept. 15, 2026). At a formal swearing-in-ceremony held at Lok Niwas here this morning, Hon’ble Justice Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court, Hon’ble Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy to the Lt. Governor.
The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Gyanesh Bharti read out the Warrant of Appointment. Soon after the swearing-in ceremony, the Contingent of A & N Police presented Guard of Honour to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor. Later, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor also interacted with the people and guests present on the occasion.
The First Lady of the Islands, Dr. Jai Lakshmi Sharma & other family members of the Hon’ble Lt. Governor and a good number of dignitaries participated in the swearing-in-ceremony. The swearing-in-ceremony was also attended among others, by the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Commander-in-Chief, ANC, Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri P. Ummer, Chairperson, SVPMC, Smti. M. Vasantha, BJP State President, Shri Anil Tiwari, Senior Officers from the Defence and Civil Administration, Councilors of SVPMC, PRI members, leaders of Political Parties, prominent citizens and general public.
Later, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of A&N Islands, Dr. Dinesh Sharma visited the National Memorial Cellular Jail in the afternoon and laid wreath at the Martyr’s Column there. He also visited Veer Savarkar Cell and paid homage to Veer Savarkar.
