Education Department Conducts Special Hearing Aids Distribution Under Inclusive Education

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 3: Education Department conducted a two days Special Hearing Aids distribution and fitting camp under Inclusive Education on Aug. 1 at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram and Aug. 2 at Deputy Education Office, Wimberlygunj.

This initiative was aimed at early identification, intervention and support for children having hearing impairment. Experts from Medical/Rehabilitation and Education Department assessed the students and recommend personalized solutions to overcome hearing issues so as to enhance their learning and communication abilities.

The camp was led by Dr. Ravi Kapoor, Senior Audiologist from Government Medical College Hospital, Chandigarh, whose expertise played a pivotal role in the successful evaluation of the children. He was supported by an ENT Specialist and Audiologist from GB Pant Hospital, further strengthening the technical rigor and depth of the assessments conducted.

During the two-day camp, a total of 31 student with hearing impairment underwent detailed audiological and ENT evaluations. Based on clinical findings, customized recommendations were made regarding the use of hearing aids, assistive listening devices and where required, referrals for further medical assessment & intervention. Accordingly, 26 hearing aids were fitted to needy students.

The camp also included awareness and counselling sessions for parents/family members, teachers and Special Educators to equip them with the necessary knowledge and strategies to support children with hearing impairments effectively both at home and in the classroom.

The entire programme was conducted under the overall supervision and guidance of Shri Vikram Singh, Director (Education), A&N Administration.
