Sri Vijaya Puram, July 17: In a landmark achievement for the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) community, nine Onge students from Dugong Creek have made history by securing admission to Class 11 in the Arts stream at PM SHRI GSS R.K. The admissions were formalized on 1st July, 2025, with classes commencing on 15th July 2025. A dedicated classroom for the Onge students was inaugurated during a special ceremony in the presence of Principal of PM SHRI GSS R.K. Pur and officials of Andaman Adim Janjati Vikas Samiti (AAJVS). The event celebrated the students’ historic achievement and their integration into the formal education system. The Principal and faculty of PM SHRI GSS R.K. Pur delivered motivational speeches, fostering a welcoming environment to help the students feel at ease in their new academic setting.

To ensure a smooth transition, the AAJVS and Education Department have made comprehensive arrangements, including dedicated hostels for boys and girls near the school. The AAJVS has also provided essential items such as stationery, clothing, ration items, and other school materials. Round-the-clock support from AAJVS staff is available to offer continuous care and guidance to the students.

The faculty and staff at PM SHRI GSS R.K. Pur are working closely with the Onge students to facilitate their adjustment from their native environment in Dugong Creek to the formal education system. The students have shown enthusiasm and curiosity as they embrace new experiences outside their traditional habitat.
