Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 6: The Electricity Department, A&N Administration has informed the general public and valued electricity consumers that, to meet the power demand in Sri Vijaya Puram, continuous efforts are being undertaken by the Department under the guidance of the A&N Administration for augmentation of generation capacity. As communicated earlier, the Department had successfully installed and added 7 MW of generation capacity, thereby achieving an available capacity of 41 MW during evening peak hours, which has provided substantial relief to consumers. In continuation of these augmentation efforts, an additional 4 MW capacity has been commissioned today at the Bambooflat Sub-Station Campus thereby increasing the available capacity from 41 MW to 45 MW. This enhancement will significantly facilitate the provision of reliable and uninterrupted power supply particularly to rural feeders and further strengthen overall system reliability.
While the Electricity Department continues to make every possible effort through deployment of DG sets and Renewable Energy sources to meet the present demand, the consumers are earnestly requested to install Rooftop Solar (RTS) systems under the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG-MBY). This initiative promotes energy self-reliance, allows consumers to avail both Central and UT subsidies and contributes to reducing dependence on diesel-based generation. Widespread adoption of RTS will greatly support de-dieselization, energy sustainability and the greening of our Islands.
The Electricity Department, UT Administration, reiterates its firm commitment to ensuring energy security, strengthening the power sector, and providing reliable electricity to all residents of the Islands. We remain grateful for the continued cooperation and support of all consumers.
