Electricity Department Cautions Consumers Who Have Increased Power Load Without Permission

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 1: The Electricity Department has observed that some of the Electricity Consumers in A&N Islands have increased their connected / contractual power load without prior consent / permission and intimation to the Electricity Department. This unreported increase in power consumption, particularly during periods of hot weather, poses unforeseen challenges in the effective planning and distribution of reliable electricity to the citizens.

All such consumers who have increased their connected load have been advised to download the forms from the website / portal https://vidyut.andaman.gov.in, https://andssw1.and.nic.in/EMCOSP & format Annexure-VII of JERC Supply Code, 2018 and submit the filled in forms with load enhancement details to their respective site offices.

The consumers are also informed that in accordance with the latest JERC guidelines the monthly energy consumption charges are based on the fixed charges also which is directly levied on sanctioned connected load of their premises. Therefore, as per regulatory provisions consumers are advised to regularize any enhancement in the connected load of their premises at an earliest to avoid billing discrepancies, penalties or possible disconnection.

This will ensure that the department is adequately informed, enabling it to plan and allocate resources effectively to meet the growing power demands. Failing to adhere to this process not only impedes efficient power management but also disrupts overall equilibrium of electricity distribution network.

All the consumers of Electricity Department have been requested to cooperate and comply with the JERC Regulation under Section 5.98 (Load enhancement).
