NHIDCL to Give Preference for Local Candidates from A&N Islands: MP
New Delhi, July 29: During a meeting held in New Delhi today with the Managing Director, National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands Shri Bishnu Pada Ray reviewed the progress and present status of the various stretches of National Highway (NH) projects, particularly in the North and Middle Andaman region.
During the meeting, MD, NHIDCL informed that necessary steps have already been initiated to complete the remaining stretches of the National Highway by engaging fresh contractors and deploying additional engineering personnel to expedite the works in a time-bound manner. It was further informed that a comprehensive review meeting would be conducted shortly to monitor the progress of the ongoing works.
The Managing Director, NHIDCL also informed that NHIDCL is in the process of recruiting Civil Engineers for its various projects across the country, including the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The recruitment advertisement has already been published, and preference will be given to eligible local candidates for appointment in the NHIDCL unit of the A&N Islands and the remuneration will be Rs.70,000-80,000 pm. However, it was informed that, so far, no applications have been received from domicile candidates of the A&N Islands. The last date for submission of applications is 5th August, 2026.
In view of the above, the eligible and willing local candidates possessing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, with a minimum of two years’ experience and not exceeding 30 years of age, may apply and avail this valuable employment opportunity.
NHIDCL has informed the Hon’ble Member of Parliament that sincere efforts will be made to provide preference to eligible candidates from the A&N Islands, with the possibility of appointing 8 to 10 local Civil Engineers for posting within the NHIDCL projects in the Islands, subject to eligibility and selection.
