Essay Writing and Poster Making Competition to be Organised as Part of World No Tobacco Day 2025

Sri Vijaya Puram, May 22: As part of the observance of World No Tobacco Day 2025, the National Tobacco Control Programme along with the Union Territory Health Mission and the Directorate of Health Services Andaman & Nicobar Administration have come up with two initiative activities – An Essay Writing Competition and a Poster Making Competition which are open for all ages. The goal of these activities is to help spread awareness on tobacco use in society and increase participation in the movement towards making the world free of tobacco.

Both competitions will be centered around the theme: ‘World No Tobacco Day 2025: Unmasking the Appeal – Exposing Industry Tactics on Tobacco and Nicotine Products’. For the Essay Writing Competition, participants are invited to submit original essays in English or Hindi, with a maximum word limit of 1500 words. The entries must reflect the theme and showcase critical thinking, awareness, and creativity.

Similarly, for Poster Making Competition artistic contributions in the form of hand-drawn posters using painting, sketching, crayons, or any other drawing tools have been invited from participants. Posters must be made on A2 size paper or half of a full-size chart paper, and may optionally include text in English or Hindi.  Participants must ensure that all submissions are original and theme-based.

The prize structure of the both competitions is the same. 1st prize is set at Rs. 3000, 2nd prize at Rs.2000 and 3rd prize at Rs.1500, followed by two consolation prizes of Rs.500 each. Submissions for the competition require a printed and electronic version. The electronic submission must be sent via email to ntcp.andaman@gmail.com, including the participant’s name, age, and contact number. The physical document should be sent to State Nodal Officer – NTCP, Office of the Chief Registrar of Birth and Death, Atlanta Point, Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman & Nicobar Islands – 744104 on or before May 30, 2025 to submit entries for both competitions.
