Fire Safety Inspection Conducted on Ferry Boats Operating on Baratang–Middle Strait Route

Baratang, April 27: Firefighters of Fire Station Baratang conducted a fire safety inspection of vehicle ferry boats operating on the Baratang–Middle Strait route to review existing safety measures and improve emergency preparedness.

The inspection covered MV Lapathy, MVF Austin-IV, and MVF Austin-V. Key checks included portable fire extinguishers, life-saving appliances, escape routes, emergency signage, and other safety requirements based on vessel capacity and passenger load. Onboard training was provided to crew members on the use of firefighting equipment, emergency response in confined marine spaces, evacuation procedures, and fire prevention measures.

The inspection aimed to ensure the safety of passengers, crew members, and government property while reinforcing fire safety compliance in marine transport services.
