Fishermen Commended for Assisting Police in Anti-Poaching Operations

Diglipur, April 20: In a proactive initiative to strengthen coastal security ahead of the monsoon season, Police Station Kalighat organised an interaction programme at Gram Panchayat Kishorinagar Hall on 19.04.2026. The programme witnessed the participation of fishermen from Kishorinagar, Parangara, Srinagar and Kalapahad villages.

The session focused on enhancing operational preparedness against illegal poaching activities during the monsoon period. Fishermen were sensitised about the importance of timely intelligence sharing and were urged to immediately report any suspicious presence or movement of foreign poachers to the local police. They were also strictly advised to refrain from any exchange of articles or marine resources with such elements.

In recognition of their exemplary contribution in recent successful anti-poaching operations, 08 fishermen were felicitated with cash rewards sanctioned by the Police Headquarters. A total of around 50 fishermen actively participated in the programme, reflecting strong community engagement and cooperation in safeguarding the maritime boundaries.

The N&MA District Police remains committed to strengthening community policing and ensuring vigilant coastal surveillance through active public participation.

The general public is requested to pass and share any credible information pertaining to any crime or illegal activities to their nearest Police Station or over phone No.100, 112 & 03192-273344. The identity of the informers will be kept secret and will also be suitably rewarded.
