Five-Day Chess Training Programme Begins in Two Clusters in Little Andaman

Hutbay, Jan 5: A five-day chess training programme for students of the Little Andaman Zone began today with great enthusiasm in two different clusters at PM SHRI Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Hutbay, and Govt. Senior Secondary School, R.K. Pur.

The programme is being organized by the Education Department with the support of the Little Andaman Educational Zone. Around 150 students from various schools across the zone are participating in the programme at two separate clusters, with the objective of nurturing young talent and promoting chess at the grassroots level.

At the Hutbay cluster, the programme was inaugurated by Shri Prabhash Roy, Principal, PM SHRI GMSSS, Hutbay, by making the ceremonial first move. Similarly, the chess training programme at GSSS R.K. Pur cluster was inaugurated by Smti. Darley Samuel, Principal, GSSS, R.K. Pur, who made the ceremonial first move to formally mark the commencement of the chess training sessions, in the presence of Shri. Mohd.  Saleem, In-charge, Assistant Supervisor (Sports).

The training programme is expected to provide a strong foundation for budding chess players and ignite greater interest in the game among school children of the Little Andaman Zone.
