Forest Officials of Jirkatang Range Seize Illegal Padauk Sawn Timber from Bada Pather Ghum

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 24: In a significant crackdown on illegal timber operation, forest officials of Jirkatang Range seized illegal Padauk sawn timber from Bada Pather Ghum area of Mile Tilak. The operation was conducted under the leadership of Shri. Abdul Rehman.T, Forest Guard (Beat Officer, Mile Tilak) with the active support of team members Shri. Deepak Roy, RPSM, Saw Towplowpaw, RPSM, Shri. Saw Thasay, RPSM, Shri. Jairam Kerketta, RPSM and Shri. O. Mohammed Abdul Aziz, RPSM.

The team detected 12 pcs of Padauk Sawn Timber measuring 0.488 Cbm from Reserve Forest Area. A Forest Offence Case under various sections of Indian Forest Act, 1972 and Andaman and Nicobar Forest Transit Pass Rule, 1966 has been registered against unknown offender. Further investigation is on to trace the backward linkages on such illegal activity so as to apprehend the offenders.

The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of the Range Officer, Jirkatang Range based on credible inputs received from a reliable source. General Public have been requested to share information on any illegal forest and wildlife produce on the Help Line number 03192-255228. Identity of the informants will be kept confidential.
