
Car Nicobar, Dec. 12: A major milestone in the development of Car Nicobar’s cultural and educational infrastructure was achieved today with the laying of the foundation stone for the Renovation/Modernization of the District Library Building in Car Nicobar. The event was graced by Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, and Shri Lionald Nicomede, Chairman of the Tribal Council, Car Nicobar, along with distinguished guests from various Departments
The event marked the beginning of the much-anticipated transformation of the District Library, made possible through the support of the Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF), National Mission on Libraries (NML), Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Under the Scheme Upgradation of Library facilities, Digital and IT- Based library services, Modernisation & Improvement of public access services, creation of facilities for specially abled group will be taken up to upgrade the existing facility into a modern state of the art facility.
In his address, Shri Amit Kale, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District highlighted that this library would not only provide modern digital infrastructure but will also feature a unique facility a Musical Arts Room, (for audio recording) which will be fully soundproof. This room will be equipped with a variety of musical instruments, all funded through the ITDP (Integrated Tribal Development Program) initiative. This special feature aims to foster creativity and support the students of Car Nicobar in developing musical skills.
The welcome address was delivered by Shri Swapan Paik, Education Officer Car Nicobar. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Smti Everlyn, Vice Principal, GSSS Malacca.
