Sri Vijaya Puram, April 23: A three-day hands-on workshop on Practical Perspectives of Space Communication concluded successfully at the Science Centre, Sri Vijaya Puram, bringing together enthusiastic students for an immersive learning experience in the field of space science and communication.
The workshop, organised from 20th April to 22nd April 2026 in collaboration with DECIBEL – An Academy for Applied Space Communication, Bangalore, focused on providing practical exposure to emerging concepts in satellite communication and real-time tracking technologies. Students from various schools actively participated and engaged in interactive sessions designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications.
The valedictory function was held yesterday in the Auditorium of Science Centre. The occasion was graced by Shri Debdas Paik, Senior Scientist and Manager, ISRO/ISTRAC, Sri Vijaya Puram, as the chief guest. He distributed certificates to the participants and interacted with the students, appreciating their keen interest and active involvement throughout the workshop.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Paik commended the initiative of the Science Centre for organising such a practical-oriented programme in collaboration with experts from ISRO. The workshop was conducted by Shri B.A. Subramani, ISRO Simulation Engineer from the U.R. Rao Satellite Centre, Bangalore, who served as the resource person. During the programme, he provided detailed insights into satellite tracking and demonstrated how students can build and use simple, cost-effective antennas to monitor and capture images from satellites and space objects in real time.
Earlier, Shri Debashis Paul, Education Officer, Science Centre, welcomed the gathering and encouraged students to stay connected with the Science Centre and continue participating in scientific learning activities.
