
Wandoor, June 16: As part of the nationwide “Khet Bachao Abhiyan”, an awareness programme was organized at Gram Panchayat Wandoor on 15 June 2026 to promote sustainable agricultural practices and soil health management among farmers. The programme was attended by 12 farmers, including 4 men and 8 women, from the village. The Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Wandoor graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and appreciated the efforts of ICAR-CIARI in creating awareness among farmers. He encouraged the farming community to adopt eco-friendly and sustainable agricultural practices to improve soil fertility, crop productivity, and long-term farm sustainability.
During the technical session, Shri Mohit delivered a lecture on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Integrated Nutrient Management (INM), emphasizing the need for balanced fertilizer application, reduced dependence on chemical pesticides, and environmentally safe crop protection measures. Dr. Sharath S. Yeligar, Scientist, ICAR-CIARI, Sri Vijaya Puram, spoke on the economics of agriculture and highlighted cost-effective farming approaches, efficient resource management, and strategies for enhancing farm income.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion, during which farmers shared their experiences and sought clarifications on various aspects of sustainable agriculture. The participants appreciated the programme and expressed keen interest in adopting the recommended technologies and practices promoted under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan.
