Sri Vijaya Puram, June 23: The Division of Fisheries Science, ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CIARI), Sri Vijaya Puram, in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), South Andaman, is organizing a Field Day Programme on “Breeding and Seed Production of Carp Fishes” on 25 June 2026 at ICAR-CIARI, Bathu Basthi, Garacharma, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The programme is intended for farmers, fish farmers, entrepreneurs, students, field functionaries, extension personnel, and all interested stakeholders involved in fisheries and aquaculture development in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The field day will provide participants with practical exposure to induced breeding techniques, broodstock management, hatchery operations, seed production technologies, and best management practices for carp culture. Experts from ICAR-CIARI will demonstrate scientific methods for quality fish seed production and discuss the scope for entrepreneurship and livelihood enhancement through aquaculture.
The programme aims to promote self-reliance in fish seed production, strengthen local aquaculture enterprises, and support sustainable fisheries development in the Islands.
