Port Blair, June 12: The vessel MV Nalanda which sailed from Vizag is expected to arrive at Port Blair on June 13, 2023 at 0800 hrs. She has on board 487 passengers. On arrival at Port Blair, the vessel will be berthed at Haddo Wharf and Passengers will be disembarked immediately.

Port Blair, June 11: The Member of Parliament, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma with a view to commemorate 50th World Environment Day and to spread awareness about conservation of nature amongst the youngsters and citizens of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands organised a trek on 11th June 2023 at 7 am to Mount Manipur National Park (formerly known as Mount Harriet National Park). Around 200 youngsters which included Army & Navy NCC cadets and youths from different parts of the Islands participated in the event.

Port Blair, June 11: The Port Blair City Area Committee of the CPI (M) has conducted a week-long door-to-door campaign and corner meetings at Haddo, Buniyadabad and Dairy Farm areas of Port Blair town against the curtailment of drinking water, electricity cut at Port Blair and rural South Andaman areas and price rise.  

During the campaign, leaders of CPI (M) highlighted the failure of the BJP-led central government and its Administration and BJP-ruled Port Blair Municipal Council and Congress MP from the islands to provide water and electricity to the people even as the water supply was only once in six days and there was 6 to 7 hours’ power cut daily.  They said that it was due to lack of planning and absence of democratic governance in the islands that such a situation has arisen. CPI (M) leaders criticized the   MP from the islands for not protesting against the curtailment of water and power cut. 

Port Blair, June 11: The Central Crime Station has successfully arrested an individual involved in a fraudulent job offers at VSI Airport, Port Blair, targeting unemployed youths of A&N Islands by impersonating as employee at the VSI Airport. This arrest marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to combat job fraud and protect vulnerable individuals seeking legitimate employment opportunities.

Port Blair, June 11: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has decided to allow residents to update documents in their Aadhaar online free of cost, a people-centric move that will benefit millions of residents. As part of Digital India Initiative, the UIDAI took this decision and urging residents to get benefit of free document update facility on myAadhaar Portal. The free service is available from 15th March, 2023 and will continue upto 14th  June, 2023. The UIDAI is also encouraging residents to upload Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents to revalidate their demographic details, especially if Aadhaar was issued 10 years back and never got updated. This will help in improving ease of living, better service delivery and enhancing authentication success rate.
