Pondicherry, July 9: The 5th South Zone Pencak Silat (martial arts) championship was held at Pondicherry 6th and 7th of July 2024 in which the Andaman & Nicobar Island team Coach cum Trainer, Senior Player Logarjun M added pride to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands by securing a gold medal. He is the first gold medalist from Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the senior category of Pencak Silat Martial Arts (in fight).

Port Blair, July 9: The President of the Nicobar Youth Association, Mr. Rayhaan Pasha, on behalf of the tribal community of Nancowry group of Islands, appreciated the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, for inaugurating the e-corner on 9th July 2024 at Nancowrie Tehsil virtually. This marked a milestone in the implementation of online services on the remote island. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Secretary for his ever-sympathetic approach towards tribal issues. It is only because of his support that the tribal community, now with a new ray of hope, is able to dream of a prosperous future.

Port Blair, July 9: As announced earlier, the Tourism Department is organizing ‘Monsoon Tourism Festival-2024’ with the theme #rhythmoftherains in collaboration with all line Departments and leading Tourism stakeholders of A & N Islands from 12th to 14th July, 2024, with the aim of promoting 'Andamans' as a round the year tourist destination. Certain beach sports have been planned for entertainment of visiting tourists & Islanders as given below:

1) Tug of War for men & women (open to all ) 13.07.2024 & 14.07.2024: Rs. 7,000/-Winner team, Rs. 5,000/-Runner team

Port Blair, July 9: The IGNOU RC Port Blair in collaboration with “Cyber Surakshit Vibhag” of Cyber Crime Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands organized an awareness programme on 09th July 2024 for staffs and students at IGNOU Regional Centre`s conference room at 03:00 PM. Dr Sudarshan Raja, Assistant Regional Director introduced about the awareness program. Regional Director   Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Jacob has welcomed the Cybercrime and Anti-Narcotics officials and thanked them for sparing time to educate staff and students about cyber fraud and how to save oneself and others from these frauds.
