Port Blair, Dec. 30: The road portion from RBV Vidyalaya Jn. to Hawaghar Jn. will be closed for all the vehicular movements for 10 days w.e.f. 2.01.2023. Hence, all the vehicles will be diverted through Hawaghar Jn., a notification issued by DM (SA) said.

Port Blair, Dec. 29: Dr Bharati P. Pawar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare visited RMRC-ICMR, Port Blair today. Dr P. Vijayachari, Director, RMRC, Port Blair briefed the Minister about the functioning of the institution in the presence of all scientists and representative from DHS.
During the interaction, Hon’ble MoS was also briefed about the background and achievements of RMRC, Port Blair. She was informed that RMRC, Port Blair is the WHO Collaborative Laboratory for Leptospirosis and the lone laboratory for SEAR. She was also informed about the reduction of malaria cases in Southern group of Islands due to continuous efforts of RMRC along with the support of DHS, ANTRI, Directorate of Tribal Welfare, A&N Administration.

Port Blair, Dec. 29: Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, GoI currently on visit to A&N Islands from 27th – 30th December, 2022 to review medical infrastructure & preparedness for COVID-19 by A&N Administration met Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency today at Raj Niwas. Hon’ble Lt. Governor briefed the steps being taken by Directorate of Health Services for overall readiness of Andaman & Nicobar Islands in Fight against COVID and upgrading of healthcare framework.

Port Blair, Dec. 29: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to repair the velodrome of Netaji Sports Complex as per the international standard under Khelo India initiative and also to construct a new velodrome of internationally approved specifications at Car Nicobar for creating more cycling opportunities for the children of Nicobar District at their place of residence.

Port Blair, Dec. 29: CPI (M) has demanded that the Tiranga Park at Aberdeen Bazar, Port Blair should be used only for holding public meetings, mass dharna, etc. by political parties and organizations and not to allow any kind of commercial activities in the Tiranga Park in future. In a letter sent to the Secretary, Port Blair Municipal Council, Shri D. Ayyappan, State Secretary, CPI (M) drew the attention of the Secretary, PBMC to the exhibition-cum-sale organized by some traders at Tiranga Park, Aberdeen Bazar, Port Blair recently.
