Port Blair, May 21: The second round of training for Counting Supervisors, Micro Observers, Counting Assistants and Counting Staff engaged to assist the Returning Officer, A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency in counting of votes for General Election-2024, was held in the DBRAIT auditorium here today. The Counting will take place in JNRM Counting Centre, earmarked for Counting of Votes for the A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency on June 4, 2024.  The Resource Person, Shri Som Naidu, DANICS Retd. while addressing the trainees, apprised them about their important roles & responsibilities during the counting of votes.

Mayabunder, May 21: A complaint of theft at Mayabunder Kali Temple was reported at PS Mayabunder. Upon this, a special team, led by Inspector P.K. Abdul Arif, SHO, PS Mayabunder, including HC N.K.K. Kerketta as the Investigating Officer, was formed to trace the offender.

Through thorough site inspections and careful analysis of CCTV footage, the team identified a person, namely Nayan Bar, as the prime suspect. Acting swiftly, they devised a plan and successfully apprehended Nayan Bar. Following his arrest, Nayan Bar was subjected to thorough interrogation, during which he admitted his involvement in the theft at the temple. As a result of the team's diligent efforts, the accused has been put behind bars, and the stolen amount was successfully recovered from Nayan Bar's possession.

The Revenue officials of Little Andaman Tehsil during the anti-encroachment drive evicted fresh encroachment at Hutbay village and an area 200 sq mtr has been restored to government khata.

Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), emphasized the critical need for timely and adequate assistance for children. He highlighted the role of society in being vigilant and responsive to the needs of its youngest members. He also stated that "The Child Helpline 1098 is a significant step towards creating a safer environment for every child. Empowered and educated community members are fundamental in bringing about this change".

Port Blair, May 21: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) today observed the Martyrdom Anniversary of Former Prime Minister of India Late Rajiv Gandhi at the Congress Office, Port Blair.

The observance commenced with ANTCC President, Shri Rangalal Halder garlanding the portrait of Rajiv Gandhi, which was followed by floral tributes from the Chairman Campaign Committee Shri.
