Port Blair, March 19: In view of the Parliamentary Election 2024, the general public have been informed that the Election Commission of India has prescribed special provisions in addition to the normal provisions for voting by Voters belonging to the Senior Citizen (85+ years), Persons with Disabilities (Benchmark Disability 40% and above) and COVID affected categories, who cannot vote in person at their respective Polling Stations.

Port Blair, March 19: The cargo vessel MV Chuglam will sail for Car Nicobar on 23.03.2024 at 1000 hrs from Haddo/Chatham Jetty and will sail back to Port Blair immediately after discharging/loading of cargo at Car Nicobar. Booking of cargo will commence from 20.03.2024 onwards between 0900 hrs & 1300 hrs at Commercial Wing, DSS. 

Port Blair, March 18: The District Election machinery under South Andaman has already kick started the election tasks towards conduct of General Elections-2024 on 16/03/2024 soon after the announcement of Election schedules by the Commission in a free, fair and transparent manner.

In order to create awareness of the latest instructions of the Commission, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, District Election Officer, South Andaman has conducted many meetings with the key stakeholders on 18/03/2024 as per the requirements of the Election Commission of India by inviting the Press and Print media persons, Printing press owners and the Political parties.

Port Blair, March 19: The vessel MV Kalighat will sail for Little Andaman on 21.03.2024 at 1000 hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail back to Port Blair on the same day at 2100 hrs from Little Andaman. Passengers may book their tickets from DSS e-ticketing portal (https://dss.andaman.gov.in/eticketing) and from STARS Ticketing Counter from 20.03.2024 onwards between 9 am & 4 pm.

Port Blair, March 18: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has decided to nominate D. Ayyappan as its candidate for the lone Parliamentary seat in Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. The Polit Bureau of the Party in New Delhi has conveyed the approval of the candidature of D. Ayyappan. He is the Secretary of the CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee and Vice President, CITU A & N State Committee.
