Port Blair, June 30: A&N Islands is a standalone Territory and the Administration is trying its level best to restrict the entry of corona virus in our Islands from mainland by conducting RTPCR tests of the flight passengers on their arrival for the safety of the Islanders. This was stated by the Secretary (Health), Shri Ram Niwas Sharma briefing media on COVID-19 situation in A&N Islands in the conference hall of IP&T today. The Administration is focusing on the fivefold strategy of Testing, Tracking, Treating, COVID Appropriate Behavior and Vaccination. As per the directions of Chief Secretary, A&N Administration the testing facility in the Islands are given utmost importance with two third of the tests have been conducted through RTCPR while one third through RAT.

Port Blair, June 30: To take stock of the impact of the second wave of Covid-19 and to assess the preparedness to combat the anticipated third wave of Covid-19 and also to review the medical facilities available in various places in the islands, the Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, along with Shri V. Candavelou, Commissioner–cum–Secretary (Health) and Dr. Omkar Singh, Director of Health Services today visited North & Middle Andaman.

Port Blair, June 30: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary to provide ship for Campbell Bay on 4th July 2021. He explained that patients, students and general public who are presently stranded at Port Blair don’t have proper place for shelter and food. Most of them have exhausted their money and they are in precarious situation.

Port Blair, June 30: When every youth in the islands are trying their best to get a slot for COVID-19 vaccination by dealing with limited slots and short time-frame for registration; a 19 year old girl from Junglighat today proved that saving a precious life is much more important than opting for vaccination.
Aksa, a 19 year old, BA First year student of JNRM has set an example that humanity comes first and saving a precious life is much more important than getting her first jab of COVISHIELD.

Port Blair, June 30: Continuing its commitment towards zero tolerance policy against bootlegging and illicit liquor especially in the time of lockdown, a close vigil has been kept over the bootleggers and special raids have been launched to unearth such illegal activities.
As a result of persistent endeavour, on 29/06/2021 the team comprising Inspector A. Usman, SHO PS Swaraj Dweep, SI P.R. Pradeep, PCs Aslam, A. Mohd. Saffique, S.L Sarkar of PS Swaraj Dweep conducted raid near Hotel Kingdom, Govind Nagar No.02, Swaraj Dweep and recovered 02 Nos. 750ml IMFL Bottle from the possession of one person namely Saroj Roy S/o Shri Shankar Roy (32yrs) Pvt Driver of Radhakrishna Resort, Swaraj Dweep.
