Port Blair, Feb 16: The Government of India is committed towards Anaemia Mukt Bharat and a worm-free future for the children of India. Worm infestation impair the nutritional status of the children. The nutritional impairment has significant impact on growth and physical development. In order to reduce the load of intestinal worms which is a major cause of Anaemia and related morbidity in the country, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in co-ordination with Department of Women and Child Development and Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India has initiated National De-Worming Day (NDD) all over the country, wherein, all children and adolescents from 1-19 years of age are given de-worming tablet through the platform of Schools and Anganwadi Centres.    

Port Blair, Feb 16: The Department of Home Science, JNRM in association with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India is organising a two days Capacity Building Workshop on Drug Abuse Prevention for Anganwadi Workers from Feb.16 to 17, 2023.

Port Blair, Feb 16: IGNOU has approved the internal credit transfer from pre-revised BBARL to revised BBARIL programmes. Similarly, the pre-revised MCOM/ MCOMOL/ MP/ MPB/ PGDHRM/ PGDOM/ PGDMM/ PGDFMP programmes to the revised MBA/ MBF/ MBAOL/ MBAFM/ MBAHM/ MBAOM/ MBAMM/ 05 PG diplomas in specialization programe of the School of Management Studies in IGNOU. In view of this the credit transfer as above is allowed with immediate effect.

Port Blair, Feb. 16: The Directorate of Tribal Welfare, A&N Administration deputed two young Nicobari artisans to participate in the mega National Tribal Festival – ‘Aadi Mahotsav’ which was inaugurated by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi today. A dedicated stall for Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been allotted to showcase the traditional Nicobari tribal arts which will endeavour to boost and promote the local tribal products. It will motivate other tribal youth to come forward to showcase their skill. The festival will continue up to Feb. 27.

Port Blair, Feb 16: The vessel MV Campbell Bay will now sail for Kolkata via Mayabunder on Feb.24, 2023 at 8 am from Haddo Wharf and will sail for Port Blair on March 2, 2023 at 2 pm from Kolkata via Mayabunder. Passenger tickets for the above sailing will be issued to the general public from Feb.17 onwards at STARS Ticketing Counters.
