Port Blair, Sept. 6: In order to realize the vision of ‘Sahakar se Samridhi’, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration handed over the keys and flagged off five Mobile Rural Marts to Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) of Kalighat, Keralapuram, Kishorinagar and Milangram of North & Middle Andaman District and Little Andaman PACS of South Andaman District under the NABARD Scheme of Rural Marts today.

Port Blair, Sept. 6: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Chemicals & Fertilizers currently on visit to Isles held discussions with representatives of Department  of Fertilizers, Govt. of Andaman & Nicobar, MFL & FACT regarding availability and distribution of fertilizers in the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and with  representatives of Department  of Pharmaceuticals & Medical devices Bureau of India (PMB) and Union Territory, Govt. of A & N Islands  regarding implementation of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana in A&N Islands at Swaraj Dweep on 6.9.2023.

Port Blair, Sept. 6: A Selection trial for the 52nd National under 19 Chess Championship 2023 & 37th National under 19 Girls Chess Championship2023 was conducted by Andaman Nicobar Chess Association at ANCA Chess Centre, Dairy Farm, today (06.09.2023).

Around 50 chess players participated in the Selection trials with great enthusiasm in which the following chess players have been selected as per the final standings of the Selection Trials to represent A & N Islands in the upcoming 52nd National under 19 Chess Championship 2023 & 37th National under 19 Girls Chess Championship2023 scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat from 20th September to 28th September 2023.

Port Blair, Sept. 6: The CPI (M) has demanded immediate filling up of vacant posts of Veterinary Officers in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services.  In a letter sent to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee drew the attention of the Administration towards the shortage of Veterinary Officers in the Veterinary Dispensaries of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He said that 15 posts of Veterinary officers are lying vacant in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration for the last several years.   He alleged that no concrete step was taken by the Administration to fill up these posts in time which led to the deemed abolition of eight posts. Revival of such deemed abolished post is a cumbersome procedure and there is a remote chance to revive those 8 posts. 

Port Blair, Sept. 6: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India to release Rs. 50 crores fund from AMRUT scheme for A & N Islands.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Minister, the Member of Parliament highlighted the issue of allocation of funds under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) for the development of infrastructure in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
