Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 14: The Directorate of Social Welfare, A&N Administration conducted an informative and impactful awareness program on the ‘Ill Effects of Alcohol and Drug Abuse’. Held under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) banner, this initiative targeted Child Helpline (CHL) and Women Helpline (WHL) staff. The program was aimed at educating employees about the importance of reducing drug demand and their role in combating substance abuse within the community.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 14: The Andaman and Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) will conduct A & N State Sub Junior (U-15) Chess Championship 2024 on 20th October 2024 at PBMC Community Hall, Dairy Farm. The event will serve as a selection event for the upcoming 49th National Sub Junior Chess championship scheduled to be held in Hosur, Tamilnadu from 2nd Nov to 11th Nov. 2024.  The top four players each in Boys & Girls will be selected for the Nationals.

China made many plastic products from this highly polluted and carcinogenic plastic wastes and returned it to the world, due to the availability of plastic products made from this disgusting waste at a very cheap price, the consumption is the highest in low cost countries like India. And in this way India became the world's largest producer of plastic waste. This was discussed all over the world last month but the real reason behind it was hidden somewhere.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 14: The Electricity Department had earlier announced the implementation of a 100% cashless payment system for energy bills, effective August 1, 2024.

To facilitate the consumers for a smooth transition to the cashless payment system, the department will continue payment counters at site offices opened during the first five working days of each month. Additionally, staff at each site office will be available throughout the month to assist and guide the public and consumers for online payments through Urja pay Portal.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 13: In a distressing case of matrimonial fraud, SC Ali Harman has been arrested following allegations that he deceived a local woman for money. The complaint, lodged at PS Aberdeen, outlines a series of deceitful interactions that began on the Muzz App, a popular matrimony platform for individuals from Muslim communities.

According to the complainant, the accused befriended her on the app and lured her into a relationship with promises of marriage. The situation escalated during a visit to Port Blair, when he reportedly convinced her family to give him money, citing vague reasons for the urgent need for funds and managed to deceitfully receive an amount of around 3 lakhs Rupees. After leaving the Andaman Islands, Harman allegedly blocked both the complainant and her family on all communication platforms.
