Port Blair, Aug. 21: Five positive cases have been detected today in A&N Islands, of which, 3 were from incoming flight passengers who arrived here yesterday. Today, 9 flights with 1430 passengers arrived, out of which, 1314 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 64 passengers and the reports are awaited.

Port Blair, Aug 19: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration to appoint and engage a suitable female Gym trainer for Ladies at the existing Gym of Netaji Stadium, Port Blair at the earliest.

Port Blair, Aug 19: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, alongwith Senior Officers of A&N Administration interacted with a group of 21 IPS Probationers [(2019 & 2020) Batch-73 RR] from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) of the Indian Police Service, Hyderabad currently on visit to A&N Islands in the Conference Hall of Secretariat on 19.08.2022.

Port Blair, Aug 19: While vaccine hesitancy prevails even among the youth, it was a proud moment for the residents of Ward No 6 of PBMC when one of the Senior-most Citizens of the ward, Shri. N. S. Malhotra aged 98, a resident of Goalghar became a role model by inoculating himself from the third shot of COVID vaccine. Shri Malhotra had reached the Booster Dose Camp, organised today at the Census Office, Phoenix Bay.

Port Blair, Aug 19: CPI (M) has demanded immediate issuance of general transfer orders of teachers and Heads of Schools working under the Education Department. In a letter sent to the Secretary (Education), A & N Administration, Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee explained the difficulties being faced by a large number of teachers and heads of institutions who have applied for transfer from one place to other on various grounds. Shri Ayyappan told the Secretary (Education) that those teachers whose children are studying in Class XII are unable to be with their children during the crucial period of their studies.  Besides, a large number of teachers who have completed their tenure at the present place of posting and applied for transfer are also waiting for their transfer.  Those who are posted in the southern group of islands and completed their normal tenure are also to be brought back.
