Port Blair, March 16: A Three-Day capacity building training of facility level staff on “Strategies of NACP phase –V and Sampoorna Suraksha Kendra” was organized by the Basic Services Division of Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society from 14th to 16th March 2023 at Hotel SR Castle, Dollygunj, Port Blair.

A total of 25 numbers of staffs were trained. The staff participated were the Counselors, Staff Nurse and Lab Technicians from 13 SA-ICTC; DSRC; ART Centre and Blood Bank.

Port Blair, March 16: Nagarpalika Swachhtha Karmachari Sangh (NSKS) an affiliated association of Andaman Nicobar Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh (ANRKM), BMS was on Kaam Roko Andolan from 13th March 2023 protesting in front of PBMC Head Quarter. The strike continued till 15th March and on 15th March Shri. Vishal Jolly, NEC Member, BJP visited and assured to take up the matter with Chief Secretary for early redressal. In the meantime, several social workers, NGOs, Ex-MP Shri. Bishnu Pada Ray also visited the place of protest for assuring and extending support to the protestors.

Port Blair, March 16: As part of organizing Open Sea Swimming competition from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep to RGWS Complex on 18th March 2023, the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs has successfully conducted the briefing-cum-orientation programme of swimming for the participants in the Swimming Pool of Netaji Stadium Complex today.

Port Blair, March 16: NABARD has been supporting NGOs/ Banks for promotion and credit linkage of SHGs, imparting livelihood training programmes and supporting SHGs in marketing their produce through a number of interventions. Many Self Help Groups in the Islands are undertaking livelihood activities viz., making various handicraft products, food processing, tailoring and such other activities which helps them to generate additional income thereby improving their economic and social status.

Port Blair, March 16: The Department of Education, A&N Administration has invited entries for creating a Mascot for ‘Swachh Island Mission’. All students of Schools and Colleges have been encouraged to take part in the competitions by submitting their ideas /drawings/paint/sketch etc. on the mascot under the theme ‘Swachh Island Mission’. All College Principals, Zonal Officers/Principals/Head of the Institutions of all management schools have been requested to create wide publicity among the students and invite entries from the students. The winner of the competition will be awarded Rs. 25,000/- along with certificate.
