Port Blair, Nov. 3: The District Administration through District Level Centre for Women (DLCW), South Andaman and National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) conducted an awareness programme to disseminate information on how to prevent COVID-19 on October 22 at Community Hall, Sippighat. The District Coordinator (DLCW)and Public Health Nurse briefed about the various preventive measures for COVID-19 and how to fight the social stigma associated with the virus, this will help people to be more transparent about COVID-19 symptoms. The general public was /also informed about contacting the DISTRICT CONTROL ROOM on 1070/102 in case of any symptoms like fever, cough, breathing difficulty etc. for medical guidance and advice.

Port Blair, Nov. 2: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has requested the Secretary (Shipping), A&N Administration to arrange special sailing of boat from Hut Bay to Port Blair on or before 17th November 2020 for transportation of students from Hut Bay for attending counselling for higher studies in various colleges at Port Blair. The counselling is schedule to be held from 20th November 2002 onwards. There are around 100 students of Little Andaman who will be attending the counselling at Port Blair for which transportation facilities are urgently required.

Appeals to General Public to Cooperate with Administration in the Fight Against COVID-19

Port Blair, Nov. 2: The Dy. Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS along with SDM (SA) visited the Community Health Centre at Bambooflat and the Primary Health Centres at Wimberlygunj and Garacharma to review the COVID-19 preparedness and to strengthen the field surveillance activities.

Port Blair, Nov. 2: The long awaited Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the incoming tourists has been formulated. This policy shall encourage the tourists to travel to Andamans and will help revive the many livelihoods that are in distress today.
