Members Approve Proposal to Change the Name of ACCI to A&N Chamber of Commerce & Industry

Port Blair, June 19: The 53rd Annual General Body Meeting of ACCI was organised at Hotel TSG Emerald view, Phoenix Bay on 18th June, 2023.  In this meeting Brig Ashis Bhattacharyya Senior Advisor of North Eastern States & UTs, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), New Delhi was the Special Guest. The meeting was attended by nearly 150 members of the ACCI.

Mayabunder, June 19: The District Police of N&M Andaman arrested 03 persons involved in illegal cow trafficking which is operating from Mayabunder to Port Blair using the sea route.

On 17/06/2023, PS Mayabunder Police was on patrol to gather intelligence and curb the menace of illegal activities at coastal areas. Meanwhile, on receipt of information from Coast Guard the Police team comprising Inspector Abdul Arif, SI Dinesh Meena, PCs Dilleshwar Rao, Balraju and Sashi Kumar Das of PS Mayabunder responded swiftly and rushed to the spot and seized an engine dinghy along with cows and interrogated the individuals who are indulged in illegal transportation of cows.

Port Blair, June 19: Together with the rest of the world, the 9th edition of International Day of Yoga (IDY) will be celebrated in A&N Islands too on June 21. This year’s celebration will be based on the theme ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. The main programme would be the Mass Yoga Demonstrations from 7.00 am to 8.00 AM by following the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) of Govt. of India at the State, District, Block and Panchayat levels. The IDY observance is based on a harmonious mass yoga demonstration of a custom made 45 minutes protocol namely, Common Yoga Protocol (CYP).

Port Blair June 19: The Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, GoI, Dr. L Murugan will be arriving here tomorrow (June 20) on visit to A&N Islands. Soon after arrival, the Minister will visit various developmental works/infrastructure projects viz. upgradation of Garacharma PHC to District Hospital and newly constructed bridge at Sippighat in NH-4, South Andaman. He will also attends local programmes in South Andaman.

Port Blair, June 19: The Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA) & Police Department will organize 100 awareness programmes in Schools, Colleges and Panchayats of South Andaman District on ‘Ill Effects of Alcohol and Drug Abuse’, from 10th July, 2023 to 27th March 2024 to sensitize the people of these Islands on the peril of addiction and illicit drug trafficking and free our society from the menace of drug abuse under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ campaign. The campaign will focus on prevention by educating individuals about the risks and consequences of drug abuse by providing accurate information and raising awareness. Early intervention through such programmes can also identify individuals at risk and provide necessary support before substance abuse becomes a serious problem.
