Port Blair, Sept. 11: South Andaman District Open Rapid Chess Tournament 2022 was organised by South Andaman District Chess Association (SADCA) in collaboration with PLA Creek Resort Chouldari under the aegis of Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) on Saturday the 10th September 2022 at PLA Creek Resort, Chouldari, near Veer Savarkar Park.

Port Blair, Sept. 11: Acting on a specific intelligence input from reliable source, Police team from Central Crime Station consisting of SI Parvash, HC/707 S. Baroi, HC/254 Sanjay Kujur, PC/2079 G. Ravi and PC/1143 K. Rajendran apprehended two persons namely M. Muthu Kumar S/o Shri. Murgeshan (35) yrs, Pvt. Labour R/o New Bimblitan and A. Xavier S/o Late Arokiyan (47) yrs, Pvt. Labour R/o Old Bimblitan at Paddauk Bagicha, 6 No. near Nayashahar Dam, New Bimblitan with 12 pieces of illegal sawn padauk timber of different sizes along with sawing equipment. Padauk timbers were seized and accused persons were detained observing all codal formalities.

Port Blair, Sept. 10: The Tourism Department conducted Beach Cleanliness Drive today at Elephanta beach, Swaraj Dweep, a preferred tourist destination for water sports activities in Swaraj Dweep frequented by a good number of National and International tourists. The cleanliness drive was carried out as part of 'Clean Coast, Safe Sea' campaign launched by Gol.
