Port Blair, July 8: The Andaman and Nicobar Media Federation (ANMF) have deeply condoled the sudden, untimely and sad demise of Mr. Zubair Ahmed, who expired on 08/07/2022, he was the Editor of ‘The Sunday Islander’ an online news portal from A&N Islands. Through news and his vast experienced views stand upon bold, free and fair journalism, he has won the hearts of islanders for decades. Earlier, he was the Editor of weekly views magazine ‘The Light of Andaman’. 

Port Blair, July 8: Shri G. Ramakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is reaching Port Blair on 9th July, 2022 morning from mainland. The senior leader will attend a series of party meetings at Port Blair including the meeting of State Secretariat and State Organsing Committee scheduled on 9th and 10th July, 2022. 

Port Blair, July 8: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,84,014 doses of vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above so far. Similarly, 23,588 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years. 24,624 beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years have been administered both doses of vaccine. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 27,926.

Port Blair, July 8: The Directorate of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Andaman and Nicobar Administration in collaboration with the Gram Panchayats of the Islands conducted extensive awareness cum sensitization drives on 08th July 2022 on Single-use Plastic in all the 70 Gram Panchayats. The programmes were conducted to sensitize the rural masses and commercial establishments in the UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands marking the importance of International Plastic Bag Free Day (i.e. 03rd July 2022) and with a view to create awareness on enforcing ban on manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of identified single use plastic that has came into force across the country since 1st July 2022.

Port Blair, July 8: During the RTPCR conducted on 130 incoming flight passengers who arrived here yesterday, three positive cases have been detected. Today, 9 flights with 1292 passengers arrived, out of which, 1118 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on126 passengers and the reports are awaited.
