Port Blair, Oct. 28: Five COVID positive cases have been detected today in A&N Islands from incoming flight passengers who arrived here yesterday. Today, 15 flights with 1525 passengers arrived, out of which, 1465 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 35 passengers and the reports are awaited.

Port Blair, Oct. 27: Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) Hon'ble Lt. Governor, A & N Islands & Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency today formally inducted into service the newly acquired vessel Nalanda, a 500 pax-cum-150 ton cargo, State of the Art ship built by Cochin Shipyard Limited for A&N Administration at a function held at Haddo Wharf. The Lt. Governor lighted the lamp and unveiled the plaque to mark the induction of the vessel.  The Chief Secretary (I/C), A&N Administration, Smt. Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Adhyaksha ZPSA, Smt. Pramila Kumari, Chairperson, PBMC, Smt. Kavitha Udhaya Kumar, DGP, Shri Neeraj Thakur, IPS, Senior Officers from Civil Administration & Defence, representatives of Cochin Shipyard Limited and SCI, staff of Directorate of Shipping Services were present on the occasion.

Discussed operationalisation of CANSR (Cochin Andaman & Nicobar Ship Repair Unit) and realization of its fullest potential given that new major Greenfield ports & International Container Transhipment Terminal are also in pipeline for development.

Port Blair, Oct. 27: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands to resolve the long pending issues/grievances of villagers of Campbell Bay Gram Panchayat.

In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor the Member of Parliament mentioned that during his recent tour to Campbell Bay, Great Nicobar, the PRI members of Campbell Bay met him and presented some burning issues/grievances.

Port Blair, Oct. 27: Due to delay in arrival of the vessel from Chennai, the vessel MV Swaraj Dweep may not be able to maintain her next announced schedule to Vizag i.e. on 28th Oct. 2022 from Port Blair. However, the newly inducted vessel Nalanda will now sail for Vizag in place of MV Swaraj Dweep on 02.11.2022 at 1600 Hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail back to Port Blair on 06.11.2022 at 1600 hrs from Vizag port.
