Port Blair, June 20: Together with the rest of the world, the 10th edition of International Day of Yoga (IDY) will be observed in A&N Islands too on June 21, 2024. The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Yoga for Self and Society’. As part of the Yoga Day celebration, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, in his letter addressed to all Gram Pradhans, has urged them to make holistic health a people-led movement by spreading more awareness about Yoga and Millet.

Port Blair, June 20: The newly recruited personnel of the Police Marine Force, A&N Police have completed a comprehensive 7-weeks training with the India Coast Guard. This is the first ever such initiative in the history of Police Marine Force and Indian Coast Guard in the islands.

The 12 Technical Police personnel include 2 Sub-Inspectors (ED), 1 Head Constable (Electrician), 2 Police Constables (Lascar), and 7 Police Constables (Greaser), of the Police Marine Force. The training was hosted at the Coast Guard District Headquarters (DHQ)-14, Port Blair. It was aimed to enhance the operational effectiveness and to upgrade the knowledge and skill of the personnel.

Port Blair, June 20: The Andaman & Nicobar Police has embarked on a comprehensive initiative to educate the public about the newly enacted criminal laws, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023. These landmark legislations replace the Indian Penal Code, 1860; Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898; and the Indian Evidence Act, 1872, respectively and it will be effective w.e.f 01st July 2024.

Port Blair, June 20: The District Administration in its continuous efforts to remove encroachments has carried out drives against such activities in Little Andaman recently.

During such drive, encroachment in the shape of temporary structures in the form of shed was removed from the land bearing Sy.No 338 at Hutbay village under Little Andaman and nearly 0.05 hects. of Govt. Land was restored to its original status.
