Port Blair, June 25: The Global Academy of Modern Fitness (GAMFs) under the guidance of Grand Master Shihan MS Murugan and with the theme "Our Health is Our Biggest Asset" organised an awareness programme today at the Beodnabad panchayat hall in Port Blair. This event aimed to raise awareness about mental and physical fitness.

Shri D Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M), A&N Islands has condoled the sudden demise of Smt CJ Mary, retired Headmistress, Education Department and wife of Shri Lawrence Fernandez, former President of Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A&N Islands, at a hospital at Chennai on 23rd June, 2023. She was 69 years. Her body will be brought to Port Blair on 26th June, 2023 morning and last rites will be held at the residence of her brother Shri CJ Antony at Lambaline. I convey my heartfelt condolences to the family members of late CJ Mary.

Selvam R/o Prem Nagar, who left for heavenly abode on today 24.06.2023 at 02.30 PM. Shri Jolly prayed to the Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed soul and to give strength to his bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Port Blair, June 23: Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, has taken over the charge of Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands today. A ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented at Police Headquarters to welcome the DGP. Shri Devesh Chandra Srivastva, an officer of 1995 batch of Indian Police Service, has over 27 years of wide experience in the field of policing and served in various capacities in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Delhi and Mizoram. He has also served on central deputation in Intelligence Bureau (IB) and thereafter in ONGC as Executive Director (Security). After serving as DGP, Mizoram for 16 months, he has been posted as DGP, A & N Islands.
