Port Blair, April 2: Andaman and Nicobar Police proudly announces the launch of its in-house developed ‘Chatbot’. The newly unveiled chatbot, named "Election Mitra," represents a significant milestone in the technological upgradation efforts of Andaman and Nicobar Police. This Chatbot was born out of extensive discussions with various stakeholders, involved in the election process, wherein a need was felt to ensure that all Police personnel, right up to the last man, must have ready and all-time access to authentic information put out by the Election Commission of India, in a user-friendly and interactive manner.

Port Blair, April 2: The Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri B S Jaglan, IAS, held a meeting today in his chamber at Secretariat, A&N Administration with the Returning Officer, ANIPC, Chief Staff Officer, Record Officer (Service Voters), State Nodal Officer (ETPBs), Dy. Superintendent of Post, A&N Islands & Nodal Officer (IT) to discuss on Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) issues.

Port Blair, April 2: In an effort to achieve 100% active participation of the electorate in the current General Elections-2024, the Election Commission of India has taken special initiatives Vide Order No.3/4/4/ID/2024/SDR/Vol.I Dt. 19th March 2024, to encourage the electorate to exercise their most basic democratic franchisee. Those who are not able to produce the EPIC, shall produce one of the alterative photo identity documents for establishing their identity viz. Aadhaar Card, MNREGA Job Card, Passbooks with photograph issued by Bank/Post Office, Health Insurance Smart Card Issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Driving License, PAN Card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, Indian Passport, Pension document with photograph, Service Identity Cards with Photograph issued to employees by Central /State Govt./PSUs/Public Limited Companies, Official Identity Cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs, and Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card, M/o Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.

Ban on unlawful assemblies and prohibition on holding of public meeting during the period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for the close of the poll

Port Blair, April 2: The Election Commission of India has announced the General Elections-2024 (Phase-I) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency and Polling will be held on 19/04/2024 from 0700 hrs. to 1800 hrs. Under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 which connotes prohibition for conduct of public meetings during the period of 48 hours ending with hour fixed for conclusion of poll, the Election Commission of India has issued specific instructions inter-alia during the last 48 hours of end of poll by taking into consideration for ensuring creation of conducive environment for conduct of free and fair polling especially in context of Law and Order view point by banning on unlawful assemblies and prohibition on holding public meetings.

Port Blair, April 2: In line with its unwavering commitment to combat drug-related activities, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station executed a targeted anti-narcotics operation on April 1, 2024. Acting on specific intelligence indicating the transportation of contraband via courier services, a specialized team of Anti-Narcotics Police Station comprising of Insp. S Kannan, SHO Anti-Narcotics Police Station, SI Mohd Rahil Islam, HC/786 Abdul Salaam, PC/2836 M. Raja which was led by Shri Vishesh Dhatterwal, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics), CID, conducted a raid at main Post Office, Aberdeen, Port Blair. The raid resulted in arrest of one person namely Mr G Neeraj S/o Late P Gopal, student of B.A (Political Science), Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyaya, Port Blair, Resident of Pongichaun, Port Blair with possession of a parcel containing 325 grams of  Ganja which was transported from mainland through Government postal courier services.
