Port Blair, Aug. 12: One covid positive case has been detected today in A&N Islands. Today, 10 flights with 1717 passengers arrived, out of which, 1513 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 148 passengers and the reports are awaited.

INTER ISLAND SECTOR:

MV Campbell Bay will sail for Campbell Bay via Nancowry on 18.08.2022 (Thu) at 1000 Hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail for Port Blair on 20.08.2022 (Sat) at 0900 Hrs from Campbell Bay via Nancowry.

Passenger Tickets for onward journey will be issued on 18.08.2022 at Haddo Wharf two hours prior to the departure time of the vessel based on the list provided by Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Port Blair and also after due verification of COVID Test Certificate and Islander Card/Local Certificate/Tribal Pass etc.

Port Blair, Aug 11: On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma visited a large number of places in Port Blair and South Andaman and participated in the Raksha Bandhan programme.

Port Blair, Aug 11: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the issue of non-payment of salary to the employees and workers of Andaman Labour Force, Port Management Board with the Secretary of Shipping Services.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary Shipping, the Member of Parliament, who is also the President of General Employees Union, Andaman Labour Force mentioned that the Employees and Workers of Andaman Labour Force, Port Management Board have not yet received the salary for the month of July 2022.

Port Blair, Aug 11: Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee met the new Chief Secretary, A&N Administration at his chamber in the Secretariat on 10th August, 2022 and submitted a Memorandum containing some of the burning issues of the islanders.  He told the Chief Secretary that about 10,000 posts of various categories (direct recruit posts) are lying vacant under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. CPI (M) stated in the Memorandum that a large number of these posts are operational posts and should have been filled up immediately on its falling vacant.
