Port Blair, April 24: The panchayat representatives of Hope Town, Shore Point, Bambooflat 1, Bambooflat 2, Stewardgunj, Mannarghat, Shoal Bay, Brindaban, Ferrargunj, Mithakhari, Tushnabad and several panchayats of North & Middle Andaman boycotted the Gram Sabha meeting organized on the occasion of "Panchayati Raj Day" by the District Administration on Sunday, alleging that the elected members are not being considered in the decision making.

Stakeholders briefed about intent of EOIs to be floated by Tourism Department
Port Blair, April 23: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Jitendra Narain has recently directed the Tourism Department to issue Expression of Interests (EOIs) for events and activities related to development and promotion of Tourism in A&N Islands. In line with this, Tourism stakeholders were briefed about the EOIs during a meeting held by the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka and Special Secretary (IP&T), Shri Hari Kallikkat today with the representatives of ACCI, Hotel Association, Shipping Association and other stakeholders.

Port Blair, April 24: A delegation led by Miss V. K. Mariyam Bibi, ZPM, Bambooflat/Ex Adhyaksha ZP SA along with Smti Dhana Rekha-ZPM Shorepoint, Smti Rasheeda -Pradhan Hopetown, Smti Naseema- Pradhan Bambooflat-2 met SE electricity and apprised her about the problem being faced by the general public. They took up the issue of frequent power cut and requested the SE to restore the power supply as it was earlier. They also requested for old/damaged electric poles to be replaced in various wards as per requirement. The SE assured to do the needful at the earliest.

Port Blair, April 24: On the occasion of Earth Day, the Port Blair Municipal Council organised a Beach Cleaning in Mazar Pahad on 22.04.2022 in which the volunteers from Nature Club and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell of JNRM took part. The students collected different types of wastes like Biodegradable and Non-Biodegradable.

Port Blair, April 24: On 21st April 2022 Smti.Kavitha Udhaya Kumar, Chairperson Port Blair Municipal Council along with Shri. Azizur Rahman, Sr.Vice Chairperson, Smti. A.Selva Rani, Junior Vice Chairperson visited the Solid Waste Management Division of PBMC situated at Brookshabad. Shri.C.Karunanidhi, Chairperson, FTA Sub Committee, Shri.Rajesh Pal Govind, Chairperson Public Health and Sanitation Sub Committee and Shri.Rajesh Ram Councillor, Ward No-22 were also present during the inspection.
