Port Blair, Aug 23: In a letter addressed to the Directorate of Education, A&N Administration, the Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Mr. Rangalal Halder has requested on behalf of the concerned parents and students of the Senior Secondary Schools under Mayabunder Tehsil regarding the staffing requirements.

He said that the skills and methodologies required to teach the students from Class VI to VIII required qualified teaching staff. Appointing qualified Primary School Teachers (PST) and Graduate Trained Teachers (GTT) would greatly enhance the quality of education to the students.

Port Blair, Aug 23: The State President, National Students Union of India, Shri. M.A Sajid on Wednesday raised his strong objection over the plan of A&N Administration to establish the office of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Deemed University inside the campus of JNRM College

In a letter addressed to the Secretary (Education), Sajid said, “Through reliable sources we came to know that the A&N Administration is setting up a plan to utilize the new building of JNRM College for making office of the proposed Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Deemed University. We strongly oppose this kind of idea which will be a reason for hampering the educational facility of students studying in JNRM College”.

Port Blair, Aug. 23: The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs in association with Directorate of Education will be celebrating National Sports Day-2023 on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand (Hockey Wizard) on 29th August, 2023. As part of the celebration, the Department will be organizing Road Race on Aug.24, 2023 at 5.30 am and Badminton tournament on the same day from 8.30 am onwards in the Multipurpose Hall, Netaji Stadium.

Port Blair, Aug 23: The 36th National Under-7 Chess Championships–2023 will be held in Kolkata, West Bengal from 21st September to 25th September 2023. In this connection, Andaman Nicobar chess association (ANCA) will conduct State under 07 chess championship cum Selection Trials on Sunday the 03.09.2023 at ANCA Chess Centre, Dairy Farm to select players from Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the Championship.

Port Blair, Aug. 23: The Parliamentary Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes headed by its Chairman, Dr. Kirit Premjibhai Solanki arrived on visit to A&N Islands today. The other members of the Committee are Shri Anil Firojiya, Shri Chhedi Paswan, Shri Upendra Singh Rawat, Dr. Sumer Singh Solanki, Shri Nabam Rebia, Shri Abir Ranjan Biswas, Shri Kamlesh Paswan, Shri Jagannath Sarkar, Shri Tapir Gao, Shri Guman Singh Damor, Shri Niranjan Bishi, Dr. V Sivadasan, Shri Rebati Tripura, Shri Krupal Balaji Tumane, Smt. Phulo Devi Netam. Another member of the Committee, Shri Girish Chandra is scheduled to arrive here tomorrow (Aug.24).
