Port Blair, Aug 20: To promote legal awareness and empower vulnerable groups, the District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands organized a Legal Awareness Camp at the Old Age Home, Ferrargunj today. Shri Anupam Mukherjee, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Shri Bhawani Shanker Sharma, Ld. Additional District & Sessions Judge, Andaman & Nicobar Islands took part in the said awareness camp.

Shri. Rangalal Halder, President, ANTCC and Shri. TSG Bhasker, Chairman, Campaign Committee, ANTCC has condoled the sad demise of Shri. Muhammed Ali, age 70 years, elder brother of Smt. Zubaida Begum, South Andaman Coordinator, Mahila Congress who passed away yesterday at Palakkad, Kerala.

Shri. Halder and Shri. Bhasker conveyed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved members of the family to bear this irreparable loss.

N&M Andaman Police Expands Skill Development Program ‘Hunar’ in Diglipur

Diglipur, Aug 18: The North & Middle Andaman District Police has made a first-of-its-kind effort by introducing "HUNAR" a creative and innovative project, to involve Andaman youth in skill development courses in an effort to reduce victimization and their engagement in criminal activities. The program was under the able guidance and leadership of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District and under the banner of Community Policing Initiative in the month of June 2023.

Port Blair, Aug 18: Highlighting the prolonged power cut issue of Katchal Island, the Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Secretary (Power) A&N Administration to resolve the power crisis as soon as possible.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary (Power) the Member of Parliament mentioned that he has been approached by a large number of residents of Katchal Island, who have expressed their deep frustration regarding the severe and extended power cuts they have been enduring for the past nearly 10 days.

Port Blair, Aug 18: CPI (M) has demanded to issue appointment orders to all the selected candidates on the basis of the written tests conducted by the concerned departments recently. In a letter sent to the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee brought to his notice that various departments under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration and Recruitment Cell of the Secretariat have conducted written tests for filling up various categories of posts during the last few months. Results of such recruitment examinations were also published by the concerned departments and Recruitment Cell of the Administration.
