Port Blair, June 18: A meeting of the Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee of the CPI (M) was held at Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali, Port Blair on 17th June, 2023. Shri G. Ramakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member of the party attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed the political situation prevailing in the islands.         

Addressing the meeting, Shri G. Ramakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member said that the BJP is trying to split the people of the country on communal lines and targeting the Muslim minority. Freedom of press is stifled in the country to avoid publishing anything against the misdeeds of the central government and BJP. He said that the BJP is running the government only for the corporate. Acknowledging the massive movement conducted by the CPI (M) in Andaman & Nicobar Islands over the last more than one year on various people’s issues, G. Ramakrishnan said that no other political party in the islands is conducting agitations on issues haunting the islanders.

The outdoor program for mental and physical fitness awareness was held at Dairy Farm Community Hall. The programme was graced by Shri. Joga Rao, Councilor of Ward No.14 and Shri. Padbhanabhan, Councilor of Ward No. 15 and was witnessed by students expressing their desire to achieve optimal health and commit to regular attendance.

Port Blair, June 18: The District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands held National Lok Adalats in the District Court Building, Port Blair, ADR centre-‘PRAYAS’, Port Blair and Sub-Divisional Court Complex at Mayabunder and Diglipur today. The Judicial Officers of this judgeship were present to mark the commencement of the National Lok Adalat at Port Blair, Mayabunder and Diglipur.

Port Blair, June 18:  The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the CEO, Prasar Bharati, New Delhi to allow Vividh Bharati Port Blair FM channel to continue telecast of entertainment programmes and not to simulcast with Primary Channel (Air Port Blair).

In a letter addressed to the CEO, Prasar Bharati, New Delhi, the Member of Parliament said that the Vividh Bharati FM Port Blair has been doing a commendable job since its inception in 2019. In the absence of any private FM channel, this channel has been a major source of information and entertainment for islanders.

Port Blair, June 18: Applications in prescribed format have been invited from bonafide Fishers / Fish Farmers / Tribals who are interested to go on study tour to Odisha and Kerala during the year 2023-24. The purpose of the study tour is to acquaint Fishers/ Fish Farmers / Tribals of the Islands with the latest and innovating technological development taking place in mainland. The study tour for the Freshwater Fish Farmers shall be for Odisha and for Marine Fishers / Tribals shall be Kerala.
