Port Blair, Aug 14: The second in the series of two 1200 Pax capacity passenger vessel named "ATAL" under construction in Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) for the Andaman & Nicobar Administration was launched on 12.08.2022 (Friday) at CSL’s Kochi yard. The vessel was launched by Smt. Rameetha K, Scientist ‘G’, NPOL (DRDO) wife of Shri Madhu S Nair, CMD, CSL. The Chairman and Managing Director along with fellow directors, Owner’s Representatives, Classification Societies and Senior Officials of CSL were present on the occasion.

Port Blair, Aug 14: It is a matter of great honour and pride for A&N Police that two (02) of its officers have been conferred prestigious ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Service’ for their illustrious and unblemished service on the occasion of 75th Independence Day 2022. The awards were announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the eve of the Independence Day.

As we all know, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands had played an important role in the freedom movement of our country. The first batch of freedom fighters was brought to the Islands in 1858.

Port Blair, Aug 14: As part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrating 75 years of Independence, ships of Indian Navy, Coast Guard and DSS would be at anchorage on 15 Aug 22. The occasion would serve to showcase the maritime assets at their colourful best on the occasion of the 75th year of Independence. The event is being organised by Andaman and Nicobar Command in coordination with the civil administration and Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS). The ships would be visual from Flag Point, Port Blair as well as Marina Park for all Islanders.
