It gives me immense pleasure to learn that along with the rest of the world, the A&N Islands is also celebrating 'World Tourism Day-2022' befittingly on 27th September, 2022. It was on this very day in 1980 that the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) came into being.

The theme for this year's celebration, 'Rethinking Tourism' gives us the opportunity to reconsider how we can develop tourism as a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient manner.

Shri M.Vinod, President, AATO  alongwith all its members wishes a Happy Word Tourism Day to all the visiting tourists and tourism stakeholders of the Islands.

World Tourism Day has been celebrated sine 1980 on the 27th of September every year. This is an initiative of the United Nations spearheaded by its specialized agency, the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization). Every year there is a different theme on which the event is celebrated. The theme for 2022 is, “Rethinking Tourism”.

I extend warm greetings to the people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, particularly to those entrepreneurs who are in the Tourism Industry, on the occasion of World Tourism Day.

Tourism is the backbone of Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ economy and one of the largest sectors to provide employment to our Island youths and hence we need to focus more towards Tourism.
