Port Blair, Aug 16: In a bid to address the challenges faced by students, patients and professionals from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in Bangalore city, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has written a letter to the Chief Minister of Karnataka, urging for allocation of land for the construction of an ‘Andaman House’ in Bangalore.

Port Blair, Aug 16: A delegation of CITU Andaman & Nicobar State Committee comprising R. Surendran Pillai, President, B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, D. Ayyappan, Vice President and SP Kalairajan, Secretary today (16.08.2023) met the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, A & N Islands at his chamber and discussed about the issues relating to the daily rated mazdoors working in the Forest Department. A letter from CITU was also submitted to the PCCF on the occasion. 

Port Blair, Aug 16: The ‘AICF Chess For Everyone’ All-India FIDE Rated Chess Tournament 2023 which began on 11th August 2023 Hotel TSG Grand, Dollygunj, Port Blair concluded on 15th Aug. 2023. The tournament was organised by the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) under the aegis of All India Chess Federation (AICF), powered by TCI.

This is the first time, ANCA hosted an All-India level FIDE rating Chess Tournament and received an overwhelming response from the participants in which more than 150 Chess players from 15 different states of India participated in the five day’s event enthusiastically.

Diglipur, Aug 15: Joining the Nation, the rural Model Senior Secondary School at Sitanagar too celebrated the 77th Independence Day with fervor and gaiety. Around 500 students assembled in the morning and took out Prabhat Pheri from the school campus, making rounds of the village, shouting slogans and holding placards, transcending the messages of “Panch-Pran”, coined by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The villagers were welcoming the long procession of students, standing alongside the road. On their return, the National flag was hoisted. The Head of Institution administered the oath of ‘Panch-Pran’ to the staff, students and the villagers, which includes ‘Making India a developed country’, ‘Root out the traces of colonial mindset’, ‘Take Pride in our Heritage’, ‘To strive for National Unity’ and ‘To discharge duties honestly, keeping Nation first’.
