Port Blair, Dec. 18: The terrace on the top floor building of Utkal Samaj at Shadipur Ward No. 10, Port Blair constructed under MPLAD fund of 16th Lok Sabha was inaugurated by Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Ex-Member of Parliament in the presence of Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, today. The work was carried out by the Andaman Public Work department being the executing agency of MPLAD work for which the long pending demand of the Utkal Samaj has been fulfilled.

Port Blair, Dec. 17: Contribution of PC/972 T. Divya Murthy of A&N Police was recognized for his significant role in implementation of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) & Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) and he has been awarded in the individual officers’ category in category 'C' of States/UTs having less than 50 Police Stations by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Port Blair, Dec. 18: 1st VPM Open Chess Tournament 2022 was organised by Revolutionary Youth Club (RYA) in collaboration with Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) at VPM Hall, Bambooflat, today, the 18th December 2022.

Shri. Yoosuf, Proprietor, Jazeera Resort, hope town, Bambooflat was the chief guest for the inaugural session who made the ceremonial first move on the top boards against M Tainsh, to kick start the event.

Port Blair, Dec. 18: CPI (M) has demanded additional flights between Port Blair and mainland sectors considering the exorbitant flight fare and non-availability of tickets.  In a letter sent to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Shri D. Ayyappan, CPI (M) State Secretary drew the attention of the Chief Secretary to the non-availability of air tickets for the people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and exorbitant air fare in the Port Blair – mainland sector flights being operated by Air India and other private airlines.

Port Blair, Dec. 18: The Zoological Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre, Port Blair has successfully organised a Five-day training course on Para Taxonomy Including People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) sponsored by Department of Environment and Forests, Andaman & Nicobar Islands to train the frontline staffs during 13th to 17th December, 2022.

Shri Kamal Datta, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Andaman & Nicobar Islands was the Chief Guest, while Dr. S. Senthil Kumar, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), and Shri Kuldeep Sharma, IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forest (Mill Division), Department of Environment & Forests were the Guests of Honour. The programme was also attended by Officers from Department of Environment & Forests, Anthropological Survey of India, Pondicherry University, IGNOU and District Mobile Forensic Unit, A & N Police. The ceremony started with a prayer song and lighting of traditional lamp. Total of 34 trainees from different division of Department of Environment and Forests have participated.
