Port Blair, Feb 9: To strengthen the Disaster Preparedness of Union Territory of A&N Islands, a State Level Mock Disaster Management Exercise (TATPAR-2023) was conducted today throughout the Islands. During the entire exercise, the operational efficacy of the UT Administration was tested. As soon as the INCOIS messages of Tsunami was triggered, the State Emergency Operation Centre, Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration was activated and started sending bulletins about the possible occurrence of Tsunami to all the Emergency Operation Centres (EOCs), Control Rooms and all members of Incident Response Teams (IRTs) spread over A&N Islands.

Port Blair, Feb 9: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS who is on a five day’s tour to Southern Group of Islands reached Campbell Bay today. On arrival at Campbell Bay Helipad, the Chief Secretary was accorded a warm welcome by the PRIs, Officers of different Departments and others. He was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, Nicobars, Shri Yash Chaudhary, IAS, SP District Nicobars, Shri Manjeet, IPS.

Port Blair, Feb 9: Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) Andaman & Nicobar Chapter in association with National Interest Foundation of India (NIFI) and in collaboration with Department of Economics, Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, Port Blair organized a discussion on “Union Budget: 2023 - Estimates and Expectations” on 8th February 2023 at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Port Blair. The discussion was aimed to sensitized the students to “Know your Budget”.

Port Blair, Feb 9: The State Vice President, BJP, A&N Islands, Shri M. Vinod met Shri Jyotiraditya Schindia, Union Minister for Civil Aviation at New Delhi and submitted before him the burning issues pertaining to the aviation sector in A&N Islands.

Vinod submitted that the Islands of Andaman & Nicobar is although geographically located extremely isolated from the mainland of our Country, but with the splendid efforts of our Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Islanders are witnessing vast all round development that makes us feel as if we are not away from the mainland.

Port Blair, Feb 9: D Charvi, a Class II student of VKV Lambaline, a young budding chess player from A&N Islands brings laurel to our islands by winning the First Prize in Under 07 Girls Category in the Little England 4th   International FIDE Rating Below 1600 Chess Tournament 2023 held in Hosur, Tamilnadu from 06/02/2023 to 08/02/2023.
