Port Blair, Sept. 4: The Andaman Avians Club celebrated its 7th Foundation Day on September 3, 2023 in Port Blair. The club conducted a valedictory function yesterday to mark this milestone. Established in 2017, the club has been dedicated to avifauna conservation, guided by their motto: 'Observe, Preserve, and Educate.' Shri. Govind Bihari Mathur, known as the 'Birdman of Islands', graced the event as the chief guest. He was recently honored with the Lt. Governor Commendation Certificate and shared his journey with club members and invitees.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee under the leadership of its President Mr. Rangalal Halder and Chairman, Campaign Committee Mr. TSG Bhasker took a significant step by spearheading a Two-Days Relay Hunger Strike at Tiranga Park on the 01st and 2nd of August, 2023, centering their efforts to address the pertinent issues surrounding Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: Shri Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated at Chinmaya Mission Port Blair on September 6, 2023. To celebrate the auspicious day, a fancy dress competition titled “Different moods of Lord Krishna” is being organised from 1.30 pm onwards in two category sub Junior and Junior. Prizes will be distributed immediately after the completion of Competition.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: The 36th National Under-11 Chess Championships–2023 will be held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. In this connection, Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) will conduct A&N State Under-11 Chess Championship cum Selection Trials on 09.09.2023 at ANCA Chess Centre, Dairy Farm to select players from Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the Championship.

Two chess players each in boys and girls will be selected for the upcoming National Under-11 Chess championship.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: In pursuance to the direction received from Hon'ble Supreme Court of India for ensuring the enforcement of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 in true letter and spirit, an orientation programme was conducted by the Department of Social Welfare today in the Mini Conference Hall of Secretariat, for the Presiding Officers/Members of the Internal Complaints Committee from various Departments. About 47 participants from 33 Departments attended the programme. Miss Reeta Devi, Welfare Officer of the Department of Social Welfare while welcoming the gathering informed about the intent and impact of the POSH Act.
